Moe's Karting World Inc. Engine and Weight Rules


For all plate and stock classes  WKA guidelines apply. Silicone  non tech item. Carb- 2 ports have to be there but are a non tech item. You can use a Weisco piston (1977& 1978) for all Stock and Hillbilly Classes. All plate and stock classes  mandatory muffler. All plate classes mandatory full bumper and chest protector.

Moes Karting World will run per WKA & AKRA rules.  Refer to their guidelines for all other questions.

All clones have optional electric start & use drum clutch -

Tires must be slicks but no brand tire rule

ENGINE SPECIFIC TECH SHEET FOR: BOX STOCK 6.5 OHV

Description: Single cylinder, 2 valve, OHV 4 cycle
Important Note: All parts must be Box Stock factory production parts unless otherwise specified in this rules manual. No machining or alteration of parts is allowed unless specifically noted. All parts will be subject to a comparison to a known Box Stock part (when performing a "stock part" comparison check it is recommended to use a + /- .005 inch tolerance). Engine will be teched as raced. No aftermarket coatings of any type are permitted on any part of the engine(exception Blower Housing and Shrouds).

Combustion chamber volume: 26.5 cubic centimeter minimum, with piston at TDC, using prescribed procedure.

Cylinder Head Requirements: Must be OEM casting only. Porting and / or grinding are not permitted. Valve seats are two angles 45 degrees valve face and 30 degrees top relief. Intake seat maximum ID .897 inches , Exhaust seat maximum ID .862 inches. Stock head bolts only, must have four. Head gasket/s maybe after market, must be of stock configuration, 2 gaskets permitted with a total minimum thickness of .008 inches and maximum of .020 inches. No copper or aluminum gaskets allowed. Any stock configuration exhaust gasket allowed no other sealer.

Block Requirements: Block must remain stock as produced. Stub for governor may be removed and hole plugged. No machining of block allowed. Welding to the block shall be for rod damage repair only and may not constitute a functional modification. Stock cylinder bore is 2.685 inches max. Stroke is 2.123 inches + .010 inches or - .005 inches. No piston pop-out allowed. Matting surface finish of block and cylinder head is a non tech item, sufacing of both to correct gasket failure and meet cc check allowed. May use 2 side cover gaskets of stock configuration.

Carburetor requirements: Huayi OR RUI*ING model carb only. Carb to intake sealer is gasket only no other sealer allowed. Choke must be as supplied from factory, but may be fixed to stay in open position. Venturi .615 inches NO-GO. Rear carb bore .751 inches NO-GO. Main fuel jet .042 inches NO-GO. Low speed idle jet .019 inches NO-GO. Stock emulsion tube must be used and unaltered, .066 inches max ID (no pass through). Throttle shaft - .115 inches minimum. Butterfly - .037 inches minimum. Aftermarket air filter adapter allowed (max length of 1.375).

Valve Train: Stock valve cover only with any stock configuration gasket, no sealer. Factory stock rocker arms 1:1 ratio and push rods only. Stock valves only 45 degree angle only both valves, Intake valve Max OD .985 inches +/- .005 inches and Exhaust valve Max OD .948 inches +/- .005 inches, no modifications allowed. Only Box Stock valve springs. Max wire diameter on spring wire is .071 inches with a maximum tension of 10.8 lbs. at a height of .850 inches. Lash cap on exhaust valve only. Valve stem seal allowed only on Intake valve, maximun lip tickness of .027 inches. Minimum thickness of Intake retainer .230 inches , Exhaust retainer .250 inches. BS lifters only, no modifications allowed.

Ignition system: Stock Box Stock system only and must be unaltered. Kill switch and low oil sensor may be disabled and removed. Flywheel: Box Stock flywheel only(5lbs 4 oz minimum) including plastic fins. No alterations of any type allowed. Maximum ignition timing advance is 18° BTDC when a straight edge placed on the outside of the right-hand coil leg is just touching the right-hand edge of the metal magnet cover of the flywheel. Flywheel key is non-tech.


Piston and Rings: Must be unaltered Box Stock only. No machining of piston and rings allowed.

Connecting Rod: Stock Box Stock rod only. No machining of any type allowed. Stock rod bolts only.

Crankshaft Requirements: Stock Box Stock crankshaft required. Machining, polishing, addition of material or other alteration of crankshaft is prohibited. Stock factory timing gear mandatory and must be installed in original location. Crankshaft journal diameter is 1.180 inchesmax - 1.168 inches min.

Camshaft Requirements: Stock camshaft cores only, ez-spin assy must remain as stock. Cam lobe base circle diameter .865 inches -.005 inches/+.010 inches Duration check for Intake and Exhaust lobes (taken off pushrod). Intake duration of 219 degrees at .050 lift/86 degrees at .200 lift. Exhaust duration of 222 degrees at .050 inch lift/97 degrees at .200 inches lift(All duration checks on intake and exhaust allow +/- 2 degrees for wear and gauge variances). Max Intake lift on cam .225 inches – Min .215 inches lift taken at the pushrod. Max Intake lift at the valve .238 inches Taken on valve spring retainer with zero lash. Max Exhaust lift on cam .232 inches – Min .222 inches lift taken at the pushrod. Max Exhaust Lift at the valve .242 inches Taken on valve spring retainer with zero lash.

Blower Housing Assembly: pull starter must be present and remain stock. Pull starter may be rotated for a better crank angle.

Header and Muffler Requirements: Any single stage, one piece header made from .750 inches OD max and .635 inches ID max. steel tubing allowed, with the RLV Mini B-91 Silencer (Optional 12-1-2010 and mandantory 3-1-2011) installed at the end of pipe. The B-91 Silencer must be tread fitted to the pipe end. The entire exhaust pipe including the muffler is 15 inches max length and 10 inches min length. RLV Mini 91 Silencer Requirements: Part # 4117 Overall Length 5.465 inches minimum – 5.605 inches maximum. Threaded Nipple .690 inches maximum ID. Internal raised weld seam must be present. (ID as Mfg. NO Grinding, Reaming, or Polishing Allowed) . Rear baffle holes .1285 inches maximum, inner baffle holes .0965 inches maximum. Silencer must be utilized as produced, with no modifications or alterations permitted. Strap or brace required to silencer for support, and to insure silencer does not turn and unscrew. (No aftermarket coatings of any type are permitted.)

Fuel Tank Requirements: Floor Mounted fuel tank mandatory (stock tank must be removed). Pulse type fuel pump allowed.

Fuel Pump Requirements: Fuel pump must be pulsed from either the crank case or the valve cover. You may install a flat metal plate in the original tank location for the purpose of mounting the throttle linkage and fuel pump.

Clutches: Stamped steel drum shoe type clutches only, No machined Billet drums allowed. No disc clutches allowed.

Important Note:Any attempt to increase the RPM ’s of the BOX STOCK PROJECT,Stock
Classes,engine(example:stronger/non stock valve springs or decreasing exhaust
restriction from stock levels)is strictly prohibited.Should this be allowed or preformed
will mandate the use of an aftermarket Billet style flywheel for high RPM use(Super
Box).ARC currently has these parts in their product line(part #’s 6618/6619)and they
are approved by AKRA for use,others may become available as demand increases.Note:
Under no circumstances is this type of flywheel allowed in the Box Stock Project (Stock
Classes),Stock Flywheel ONLY.
No other alterations to or from stock components are allowed
GAS ONLY! 87 octane max.

Super Box Stock

  1. AKRA rules apply.
  2. Pipe - ARC # DJ1137, APS # RLY5438C or JC Specialty # 131137.--20" max
  3. Super Box Stock Kit - ARC # DJ1031
  4. You may drill high and low on carburetor and adjust timing.
  5. Tank is optional, any clutch.
  6. GAS ONLY!

Hillbilly Extreme


  1. Engine must start as a stock flathead 5hp Briggs and Stratton. Blocks may be patched or welded to fix holes and cracks.
  2. Blocks may be decked. Any popup is allowed.
  3. Top of block may be modified. (example - remove eyebrows)
  4. Block can be ported and polished. No adding of any material to the ports.
  5. Must use stock style carb. and tank combo (no fun carb). Max bore is .750 on Carb.  Carb may be machined to improve flow. No billet aftermarket carbs. No newer ventri style carbs. No welding except to plug OEM choke holes. Products like JB Weld can be used to fix choke holes on outside of carb. It cannot be used to build up a carb to be bored bigger or used to enhance performance. CRACKS and PLUGGING holes ONLY!
  6. Air filter adapters NON-TECH.
  7. Any stock type Briggs ignition coils (stock appearing). Air vane can be removed.
  8. Connecting rod has to be stock length. Can run Billet like 3.870" or 3.875" ARCrods.
  9. Piston has to be stock Briggs Raptor or Weisco (1977 & 1978) allowed.
  10. Any cam with a max lift of .233" is allowed. This is running lift. Checked as ran. Just pull head and put dial indicator on valve and measure.
  11. Briggs 5hp OEM stock valves only . Valves may have multiple angles, stock seats but may be modified, any valve springs are allowed, dual springs are OK. Aftermarket breather is allowed. Stock or single plate breather only. No ARC type breathers.
  12. Billet lifters are allowed (extended lifters are OK)
  13. Stock Briggs cranks only (2.4375" +/- .010) stock stroke.
  14. Max overbore will be .035 + .010 does not mean .040" pistons are ok!
  15. Head is stock appearing. May be relieved to make clearance for valves. Must start with Briggs stock head. No repositioning of spark plug hole.
  16. Lifter bores may be welded for strength, and cut for cam clearance.
  17. Flywheel must be Stock (steel only) 5hp flywheel. NO machining or rebalancing at all. OEM Unaltered ONLY!
  18. Any header is allowed.
  19. Fuel is Methanol Only. No pressurized fuel systems!
  20. Any clutch is allowed.
  21. Combined kart/driver min. weight 350lbs.
  22. If it isn't listed here you cannot modify it or run it!

ProStock Engine Rules Flathead


  1. Engine must start as a stock flathead 5hp Briggs and Stratton. Blocks may be patched or welded to fix holes.
  2. Block may be decked. Any popup is allowed.
  3. Top of block may be modified. (example - remove eyebrows)
  4. Block can be ported and polished. No adding of any material to the ports.
  5. Must use stock style carb. and tank combo (no fun carb). Carb may be machined to improve flow. No billet aftermarket carbs. No newer ventri style carbs. No welding except to plug OEM choke holes. Products like JB Weld can be used to fix choke holes on outside of carb. MAX bore .715". It cannot be used to build up a carb to be bored bigger or used to enhance performance. CRACKS and PLUGGING holes ONLY!
  6. Air filter adapters NON TECH.
  7. Any stock type Briggs ignition coils. (stock appearing) Air vane can be removed
  8. Connecting rod and piston is non tech item
  9. Any cam with a max lift of .316" is allowed. No roller type cams. This is total lift with death valves or shines under the valves for zero lash and dial indicator zeroed at TDC.
  10. Oversized valves and seats allowed, any valve springs are allowed, dual springs are OK. Aftermarket breather allowed. Stock or single plate breather only. No ARC breathers.
  11. Billet lifters allowed. No roller type lifters.
  12. Stock Briggs crank only (2.4375" +/- .010"). May be heat treated and relieved for max cam lobes to clear.
  13. Max overbore will be .060 + .010".
  14. Head is stock appearing. May be relieved to make clearance for valves. Must be Briggs stock head. No repositioning of spark plug hole.
  15. Lifter bores may b welded for strength and cut for cam lift clearance
  16. Flywheel must be stock 5hp flywheel. No machining at all. May have rare earth magnets installed or billet aluminum ARC part# 6608, Clements flywheel part # BAFWL and # FWSLTD, JR Racecar flywheel part # 555-3284, or United machine and Fabrication part # 1001.
  17. Any header is allowed.
  18. Fuel is methanol (only) No pressurized fuel systems!
  19. Any clutch is allowed.
  20. Combined kart/driver weight 340lbs.
  21. If it isn't listed here you cannot modify it or run it!




Limited Modified Engine Rules


  1. Engine must start as a stock flathead Briggs and Stratton
  2. Block may be decked. Any popup is allowed.
  3. Top of block may be modified. (example - remove eyebrows)
  4. Blocks can be ported and polished. No adding of any material to the ports.
  5. Carb is a NON TECH ITEM. Intake is NON TECH excepts has to be bolted on. Cannot be welded on.
  6. Any stock Briggs ignition coils. (stock appearing) Air vane can be removed
  7. Connecting rod and piston is a non tech item.
  8. Any cam is allowed. No roller cam.
  9. Stock valves only. Valves may have multiple angles. Stock seats but may be modified. Any valve spring allowed, dual springs are OK. Aftermarket breather is allowed. Stock or single plate breather only. No ARC type breathers.
  10. Billet lifters are allowed (extended lifters OK). No roller type lifters.
  11. Stock stroke cranks only (2.4375" +/- .010"). May be heat treated and relieved for cam lobes to clear.
  12. Max Overbore will be .060 + .010.
  13. Head is stock appearing. May be relieved to make clearance for valves. Must start with Briggs stock head. No repositioning of the spark plug hole.

Flathead Extreme  (15 and up)


  1. Must be a flathead, Raptor, Blockzilla, Briggs & Stratton ONLY
  2. Any carb, any stroke, and bore
  3. Combined kart/driver min weight 360lbs.
